Default Brake & tail light lamps

Tried to replace a simple burned out stop light lamp on '95 SC & surprise-surprise. Not accessible from the trunk! Owners manual states "take to dealer" if a lamp needs replacing-yeah, right-spend $100 or more and a day or two to replace a 95 cent lamp. Service manual on CD also neglects this important maintenance item.

So, the obvious question is: How the Sam Hill are those burned out lamps replaced? Is it necessary to & is there a way to remove the plastic lenses without damaging them or does one REALLY need to take to shop for this "simplest" of routine self maintenance procedures. [:@]
