Help: Squeaking noise when turning
I’m having an issue where there’s a squeaking noise (like metal rubbing together) coming from the front of the car. It doesn’t do it all the time, only when turning, turning to the left is worse than when turning right. It also only does it after it’s been sitting for a while, after maybe a half a mile of driving it doesn’t do it anymore. I got new tires and that seemed to make it worse. But it still doesn’t do it all the time. My mechanic (who worked for Lexus for 20+ years) can’t figure out what’s wrong with it. Looking for any ideas and anyone who also has had this problem.
thanks in advance.

It's hard to describe noises. I had a sound when I turned the steering wheel with my 2000 RX300. After. reading about it on another Lexus forum, they said to use light weight oil & lube the steering column where it passes through floor board. Apply the oil on the shaft & let it run down into; I guess a bushing.
After tolerating the irritating noise for months, it went away. Hope this works for you.
