Default Trunk Release Security Issue

I just had a thought the other day...If someone broke into my '98 ES 300, they would not only have access to the interior but to the contents of the trunk as well, simply by pressing the trunk release button. I have to say that this is a major design flaw, since a key is not required. Is there any way I can prevent the trunk release from being activated when the key is not in the ignition? At least on my crappy old '91 Ford Tempo,I could have locked the glove box where the button resided. Now the button is in plain sight. I welcome any suggestions.

Default RE: Trunk Release Security Issue

If you look in your glovebox you will find a button to disable the trunk release. Simply push that button and keep your glove box locked and you will prevent access to your trunk.

No design flaw there!!
