I get a tapping noise from the engine when I first start my car. The noise will go away
after the car warms up about 5 minutes. The noise is pronouced during acceleration.
Does anyone know what this is? On cars I had years ago this was considered a valve
tap noise and it usually meant low oil or a weak oil pump.

 

There are two possibilities.

First, your high pressure fuel delivery system is making a little noise. This is normal for that model.

Second, you may have anmechanical engineissue. Contact your Lexus dealer for this one!

 

NO NEED TO CONTACT LEXUS, ITS THE INJECTORS, THEY ARE PUMPING AT APPROX 5000 PSI. THE NOISE DECREASES ON A WARM MOTOR.
