Default '03 ES Transmission Problem?

Hey folks! I recently gave my ’95 ES to my granddaughter and bought a “certified” ‘03 ES with 42,000 miles. Nice car, but it might have a transmission problem. From a dead stop, when I give it more than slight acceleration, the rpms smoothly but quickly shoot up to about 2800 and then smoothly shift into 2nd gear. The acceleration doesn’t seem to match the rpm increase. Almost feels like it’s “slipping.” Seems and feels odd. Also (and this one drives me nuts), when I approach an intersection with foot off the accelerator and decrease speed to around 5 or 10 mph, it frequently jumps or jerks forward when I re-apply the accelerator, even when I’m only accelerating lightly or moderately. Idle is at approx. 600 or 700 rpms if that matters. I’ll greatly appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks!

I do think that there is a problem with your transmission. Try to replace it and see if it does the trick.
