Glee is a risky proposition, since its inception: the musical style had never really worked before on television ("Fame" the arguable exception), despite many many attempts (yes, the musical genre as a whole fell slightly outside the theater for years Although 2000 saw a resurgence
of the film). But it worked here, and original issue commitment of thirteen episodes (collected in "Glee:. Season One, Vol 1 - The Road to the section) has been extended to a full season of 22 episodes.
The first volume ends with the triumph of Sectional children against all odds, giving the club a break, but as they are in episode 14, not much. And contrary to what the less popular students like Rachel (Lea Michele) hoped and expected to win sectional championships has not led to a marked improvement in social status at school, which is also cartoonishly hostile than ever.
