I just bought an ES330. While driving from the Dealer, I selected the "MPG" function, which gave me readings from "20 MPG" to "44MPG", constantly fluctuating at various readings.
What do I have to do to get this function operating properly?

Nice to hear from you on the Left Coast.
My '06 has only 46000 miles and drives like a dream. I have had one Lexus before. I sold it with 140000 miles because I thought it would start needing repairs. Then I might a guy who has a '93 with 210000 miles and he says it drives like new.
The only problem I can see is the MPG computer; even at steady speed, the computation bounces 50%. Is this normal?
