How-To: Replace the A/C Compressor on a '96 LX450
Hello all,
If the A/C Compressor in your LX450 is improperly functioning then it may be an opportune time to replace the broken unit with a new one. This job is fairly involving so make sure that you dedicate ample time to sufficiently accomplish the job:
**Helpful diagrams: 1996 LX450 Compressor diagram
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the connector from the magnetic clutch.
3. Discharge refrigerant from the refrigeration system.
4. Disconnect the 2 hoses from the compressor service valves. Cap the open fittings immediately to keep the moisture or dirt out of the system.
5. Remove the engine under cover.
6. Loosen the idle pulley lock nut and compressor drive belt.
7. Remove the compressor. Remove the 4 bolts and pull the compressor upward.
8. Installation is the reverse of removal
