Default DIY Article: How to replace the camshaft position sensor on a GX470

Hello again Lexus faithful!

Today's instalment of my ongoing DIY article series illustrates how to change the camshaft position sensor on a LX470. Ready to turn the wrench? Then let's go!

**Reference Material**

Lexus GX470 Timing Gear and Cover diagram

1) Drain engine coolant.

2) Remove v–bank cover sub–assembly.

3) Remove fan & generator v belt.

4) Remove oil cooler pipe.

5) Remove timing belt cover sub–assembly no. 3 LH.

6) Remove camshaft position sensor.

7) Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.

8) Remove the bolt, stud bolt and camshaft position sensor.

To Install:

1) Install camshaft position sensor.

2) Install the camshaft position sensor with the bolt and stud bolt.

3) Torque: 66 inch lbs. (7.5 Nm).

4) Reconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.

5) Install timing belt cover sub–assembly no. 3 LH.

6) Install oil cooler pipe.

7) Install fan & generator v belt.

8) Add engine coolant.

9) Check for engine coolant leaks.

10) Install v–bank cover sub–assembly.
