GS 430 Mark Levinson amp problem

When I turn the volume up pretty loud, the amp is cutting out. And the 10' sub rattles really bad....Anyone else had problems with their stereo doing this.

Gage,

Have never heard of that problem on a ML system ........... Did you buy new or Used ???? Definately have the soundman at your dealership listen in........... If it's new no problem they'll fix it, if it's used ...........???????

Let me know what's up!!!

I did .You need a new amp. Stoplistening toyour stereo until you get it fixed. If you dont then your sub will end up blowing.

RE: GS 430 Mark Levinson amp problem

just bought a 01 GS430 with exact same problem. The sound works off and on, usually not in the morning while cold outside. then.... when working, the center amp pops pretty loud out of nowhere. It seems the amp may be blow as well.

I've ordered a used amp which I'll replace, but what about the amp? how do I get that out? this is the Mark Levinson system and looking in the trunk the amp has to come out from the inside of the car. anyone knows how without damaging the rear cover. thanks

turned out it was the subwoofer the blown, which causes the amp to go into self protection mode and shutoff. New subwoofer fixed it...sounds nice now at all volumes.

RE: GS 430 Mark Levinson amp problem

What's up fellow Lex owners! TrqLvr here. 2k1 GS430 owner. I haven't had any problems with the Mark Levinsonamp (that thing really has some juice for a factory installed amp) but my subwoofer just blew. Either that orit'smechanically damaged. It rattles at almost any volume and sounds atrociouswhen playing certainfrequencies. If anyone knows how to get to the sub to replace it, please let me know....in detail.I plan to replace it with ahigh-qualityaftermarketfree-air sub, assuming I can find one with the correct impedance.

Pulling away from 'em in silence.
TrqLvr.
