ICV, Idle Control Valve. Help

I have this problem seem to be the ICV. When start, idle at around 1,500 RPM. Shift in gear (either D or R), drop down slightly at around 1k or 1,100 (still little high). After about 15, 20 driving, it drop down to around 800 or 900 as normal. I guess it is the ICV.

I bought this car used. I recently check the previous record (recepts) and found the dealer has cleaned the LCV once which means it has this problem before and deal suspect it was the ICV.

I plan top take it out to clean it before I have to spend $$ on the new one, if cleaning won't work. Doesn anyone know where it is in the car? Any picture or instruction on the internet somewhere?

Thanks much in advance.

RE: ICV, Idle Control Valve. Help

Twice I try to get it off the car but I couldn't. I opened up a portion of it (still on the car) and sprayed WD40 with no help. The whole ICV was hold on to other part with several philips screws, not bolts, and they are so tight and space is so limited. I already slipped one of them.
Anyone know any trict to get this off?

Okay, here is what you want to do.

1.) take off air cleaner top portion of box.

2.) take off the intake pieces upto where the IAC is located (Idle Air Control valve)

3.) take off the electro-magnet (because it is what turns the IAC as commanded by the computer)

4.) the round thing that you see it the metal the the electro-magnet turns. It is a stepper-motor type system. You will see a port just inside the intake above the IAC valve, spray intake cleaner or equivelent into that hole while turning the valve back and forth. You will feel when it is free, big difference!!!

5.) while you are at it, clean the intake past that point with an old tooth-brush and the cleaner. That service with the IAC and cleaning of the intake is a 1 hour charge.

6.) make sure you don't over-use the cleaner, you don't want to hydro-lock the engine, so also make sure you let it air out for 10 minutes after wards.

7.) when starting after connecting everything, you WILL have to hold it WOT so that it will start and clear out all the crap you put into it.
