98 ES 300 Audio Display
Hey Guys, Newbie here! ;)
My audio display has been out for years. Matter of fact it started fading out a few months after the warranty expired. Just my luck! [:@] Anyway, the dealer wanted $500 to replace it. I never dropped the coin because it still functions properly and I just memorized the button I needed to use. But now it's time for a new car and the bum display will hurt resale. I know a mechanic who works for Lexus and he has offered to help me replace it if I can find a new/rebuilt unit. The dealer will not sell me one. Any advice on where I can find one? |
RE: 98 ES 300 Audio Display
one of my headlamps was oxidating really bad, the right one, so i went to somebody who sells salvaged vehicles and asked if i could have one of the headlamps off an es300 he had there. he said yeah, i got a good deal on it too...

RE: 98 ES 300 Audio Display
I have a 99 ES 300. The audio display is also fading out as well. The true of matter is that a lot of late 90's model is having the same probelm. I believe these displays should last the life time of the vehicle. Therefore, Lexus should put out an extended warranty or recall on this issue.
They want $500 for this repair because it takes quite a bit of labor to remove the audio system. |
