IS250 Oil Filter Wrench
In anticipation to my first motor oil change on my 2007 IS250 I noticed I will need an oil filter wrench. To my surprise (or maybe not so) the Toyota SST tool sold by SPX/OTC runs for about $40 (part number 09228-06500-02; the old part number was 09228-06501). The Lexus dealer is asking $52 for the same thing. I don’t know about you, but if I have to pay more than $15-$20 for an oil filter wrench … something is wrong.
Just wanted to share that I might have found an aftermarket alternative. A vendor called Assenmacher Specialty Tools makes a wrench (Tool# TOY-640) which according to them will work on this car. This product can also purchased through Tool Rage, http://toolrage.com (Prod# ASM-TOY640): $16 + S&H, or through The Tool Warehouse, http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net (Prod# ASTTOY640): $15.65 + S&H. I will probably take the risk and order the Assenmacher tool and see how it works out. If anyone has had any experience with this product or know of other options, I would appreciate if you could let me know. In any case, I will perform the first oil change in October 2007, I will post additional comments at that time.
