2016 IS 300 Brakes - Did I get Slightly Taken?
 

So I purchased a 2016 IS300 F Sport w/37k and Lexus Certified back in January of this year from a dealer in the same state, although not the closest dealer to me.
I brought it in for service at the dealer near me for a front tire issue at 40k miles. They stated that it needs a wheel bearing, which they will replace under warranty. Great. HOWEVER, they also say I'll need brakes within the next 5,000 miles, as they measured at 4, and they recommend replacement at 3. So I've driven roughly 3k miles in a little over 3 months. Seeing as I bought a certified vehicle, it struck me the wrong way that 3 months after the purchase, I'm told it'll cost $650 for new brakes that will need replacement within 5,000 miles. So I call the service dept at the dealer I bought it from, told them the story and told them it doesn't sit well with me that I'm told I have a $650 brake bill coming down the road 3 months after I drove it off their lot. He looked into his system and says when they certified it in January, they measured at 6. Certified is 5 or above. So I've taken 2mm of material off the pads in 3,000 miles? Am I wrong to think something doesn't add up here? I left a message with my sales guy, but dont expect him to return the call. The only way I can get someone on Sales to call me back from that dealer is to email the owner, then magically things happen. And I have no issue changing brakes and rotors myself. I'm just aggravated that it seems like they were a little loose in the certification, and makes me question if there are other things they were loose on. Or maybe it's just me......Any input? Btw, honestly love the car. Fun to drive!
