How-To: Replace the Cabin Air Filter on a RX300
 

Hello again guys,

Happy Friday! :cool: As we're coming out of the pollen-infested Spring season, it probably wouldn't hurt to inspect the quality of your cabin air filter and replace accordingly. This is a simple and cheap job that can be performed by individuals possessing even marginal mechanical muscle, so don't bother taking your RX300 into the dealer for this easy swap. As a part-time Lexus mechanic, I'm afforded the opportunity to work on a host of Lexus models so I figured that you folks would benefit from this concise write-up :)


**Parts and tools required**
Pliers
New Cabin Filter- $16

-Removing the old one-

1) Open the glove compartment.

2) Slide the access door at the back of the glove compartment straight up and remove it.

3) Pull the tabs of the inner access panel that you will find behind the first panel. There are tabs on the left and right of the panel. You may need to grab the tabs with pliers to get a firm enough grip to pull the panel out.

4) Grab the tab on the air filter and slide it straight out.

-Installing the new one-

1) Slide the new filter into the filter compartment.

2) Reinstall the air cover panel on the filter compartment by pushing it straight back.

3) Slide the access door back down at the back of the glove compartment.

4) Close the glove compartment.

5) You're done! :D
